With version 10.0.39, the manual creation of the Shipment order messages, and Shipment orders is possible as well. Like the rest of the blog, this example will be based on inbound processing, but the same principle applies for the outbound side.
When creating the messages and orders manually, there is no relation between the order message and the order itself. This option was introduced to provide a backup ability to manually create messages if the integration layer fails, so the warehouse is not blocked from operations.
For shipment orders, on the other side, manually created orders represent orders that originate directly from the WOM itself. An example is a return order. The source system must handle these kinds of orders separately because it might not be aware of them beforehand.
As consultants, though, we can use the manual creation to simplify our testing and demonstrate the functionality easier.
Create Inbound shipment order message
Navigate to Warehouse management > Inbound shipment orders > Inbound shipment order messages.
- Select New to create a new message
- Add the required details. Notice the system knows this is a manually created message and is currently in Draft processing status.
- Queue and then Process the message. Confirmation messages will be shown, and the processing status will move to Accepted.
Create Inbound shipment order
Navigate to Warehouse management > Inbound shipment orders > Inbound shipment orders.
- Select New to create a new order. On the sub-page, add the necessary details.
- Add the required line details as desired. This now resembles a very light version of a purchase order. Notice the system understands this is a manually created order.
From here, we can plan the shipment order to a load via the LPW and eventually confirm the Order receiving completed, etc.
