Introduction

The next version of Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, 10.0.38, is scheduled for general availability in February 2024.

In this article, we will explore the latest updates in the preview version 10.0.38 of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. This version introduces a range of new features and changes, enhancing the capabilities of this powerful platform.

Over 50 bugs are being fixed in this release, which include one that you might have encountered while trying to use the LP or location inquiry menu items – issue 833538: In Warehouse management app, the input area and info part is missing in Location inquiry & License plate inquiry menu items. In some instance this feature was simply not functioning at all.

Below is a high-level overview of new and updated features related to WMS and TMS.

View and manage inventory with a new mobile app

This app serves as a replacement for the outdated Inventory on-hand mobile workspace, allowing the warehouse team to monitor on-hand stock, item availability, and batch details across multiple legal entities and locations.

With this app, you have the advantage of real-time inventory visibility across various locations, which can streamline inventory management tasks. This convenience can be particularly beneficial for store and field workers, potentially improving their productivity. In addition, the provision of precise stock availability information can enhance customer service and contribute to increased customer satisfaction.

Inform vendors about when to ship items

A new field is being added to purchase orders allowing you to indicate when a shipment should depart from the vendor. Currently it’s possible to indicate when a shipment should arrive (the delivery date) but not when it ships, leaving a gap for understanding total transport days.

This feature will take into consideration the new transportation days setup and could be beneficial for assessing vendor performance and measuring shipment accuracy. Adding or modifying dates on source order documents is a common modification, and this new field will definitely help.

Operate warehouses connected to external order management systems

Probably the most significant feature released this year within the warehouse management space ! We went through a full test of the warehouse only mode upon its release.

Optimize the inbound receiving process

A weak point of D365 has always been to receive and put away a significant volume of serialized or batch-tracked items. The good news is that D365 introduces this new feature that optimizes this process. In addition to streamline the process of receiving shipments, it also enhances visibility through the Warehouse Management mobile app. This means you can easily identify what inventory is ready to be put away, saving you both time and effort.

It should allow you to streamline your inbound receiving process, even when dealing with intricate order lines. The result is a more productive and streamlined approach to inventory management.

Integrate Microsoft Sustainability Manager with transportation management

The transportation management (TMS) module for Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management  should now integrate with the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability using REST APIs. This allows data to flow between the two systems seamlessly, enabling organizations to track sustainability metrics alongside their other business processes.

The integration should allow businesses to leverage data from the TMS into the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability data models. For example – calculate emissions for each mode of transportation within the route planning.
